When Erica confesses her love for him over dinner, Allan, who has lived his whole life as an academic, fails miserably at articulating his feelings, causing Erica to storm out. After catching up with her and attempting to explain, Erica turns on him, expressing her hurt and frustration, along with the occasional insult. Together, they struggle to find a middle ground in their ever present battle between head and the heart.
